Nuwa reparing the sky女娲补天

        在盘古开天辟地之后，女娲觉得自己十分孤独，于是用黄泥造人，子民安居乐业。后来共工与颛顼争帝位，不胜而头触不周之山，导致天柱折，地维绝，四极废，九州裂，天倾西北，地陷东南，洪水泛滥，大火蔓延，人民流离失所。


　　女娲看到她的子民们陷入巨大灾难之中，十分关切，决心炼石以补苍天。于是她周游四海，遍涉群山，最后选择了东海之外的海上仙山—天台山。天台山是东海上五座仙山之一，五座仙山分别由神鳌用背驼着，以防沉入海底。女娲为何选择天台山呢，因为只有天台山才出产炼石用的五色土，是炼补天石的绝佳之地。

　　于是，女娲在天台山顶堆巨石为炉，取五色土为料，又借来太阳神火，历时九天九夜，炼就了五色巨石36501块。然后又历时九天九夜，用36500块五彩石将天补好。剩下的一块遗留在天台山中汤谷的山顶上。

天是补好了，可是却找不到支撑四极的柱子。要是没有柱子支撑，天就会塌下来。情急之下，女娲只好将背负天台山之神鳌的四只足砍下来支撑四极。可是天台山要是没有神鳌的负载，就会沉入海底，于是女娲将天台山移到东海之滨的琅琊，就是今天日照市涛雒镇一带。至今天台山上仍然留有女娲补天台、补天台下有被斩了足的神鳌和补天剩下的五彩石，后人称之为太阳神石。



After the world was created byPangu(a god in Chinese legend),Nuwa(a goddess in Chinese legend) felt really lonely. She used mud to make many people then they became real human. Their lives were very happy. Then two gods fighted for the throne, their heads bumped down the pillars between the sky and the ground. The sky and ground were broken, the flood was flooding, the fire was spreading and people were homeless.

Nuwa saw that her subjects were in such a disaster, she was very sad. She decided that she would refine some stones and use them to repair the sky. She went to many mountains to find suit stones, finally she chose the Tiantai Mountain. Tiantai Mountain was carried by holy turtles so it couldn`t sink in the sea. It was abound in five-coloured mud, it was the best place to refine the stones.

Nuwa spent 9 days and 9 nights, finally she refined 36501 pieces of five-coloured stone. Then she spent 9 days and 9 nights to repair the sky by using 36500 pieces and left one on the top of the Tanggu Mountain.

The sky was already repaired, but the pillars which can suggest the sky couldn`t be found. The sky would fall down if there were no pillars. Nuwa cut the holy turtle`s legs out and used them as the pillars. But the Tiantai Mountain would sink into the bottom of the sae without the turtle, so Nuwa moved Tiantai Mountain to Langya(the east of the sea).

The place where Nuwa repaired the sky, the holy turtle whose legs were cut off is still on the Tiantai Mountain.
